Lithuania

UPCYCLED BY LT is a slow fashion initiative in Lithuania aiming to promote sustainable and responsible production, consumption as well as fair trade. We are a small business with a team of professional designers, cutting and sewing masters. We are upcycling leftovers of the fur (mostly sheepskin) industry and creating high quality garments and accessories. While producing fewer but durable and multifunctional and multi seasonal clothing we are reducing the waste. Fast fashion is one of the biggest pollution sources. Do you know that it takes an average of 7000 liters of water to produce one pair of jeans? Greenpeace estimates that about 20% of sold clothing is not even worn a single time. In USA 10.5 million tons of clothing is send to landfill every year! But how fashion can be sustainable and eco friendly? Creating in a way which is most considerate of humanity and the environment is the future. By wearing clothing made of recycled and upcycled materials you can become a part of Zero Waste movement and contribute to the brighter future of our Planet. Even a small move can make an impact. We encourage you to choose sustainable fashion! OUR GOAL - continuous development of sustainable fashion oriented commercial and cultural projects as well as professional designs, using scraps and leftovers from Lithuanian industries. OUR MISSION - to encourage designers, manufacturers and consumers to be a part of positive change in the world by making daily choices. OUR VISION - to establish connection between the engaged people whose collaborations would encourage sustainable design elaboration world wide. THINK GLOBALLY, ACT LOCALLY - upcycling projects not only seek to encourage the reuse the of the local excess materials, but also invites to embrace the development of the small sewing businesses.
